Project CultCrit Returns! -- Submission F
By a vote of 2-0, you guys voted out Richard Brautigan. It's cool, though -- I know you've all been very busy voting on actual applications! Richard Brautigan is best known for Trout Fishing in America, a novel that met well with a return to nature sentiment in San Francisco of the 1950s and 1960s. Allied with hippies and beats alike, and known for a curious mix of Zen Buddhism and dark satire in the best of his poetry, Brautigan nonetheless withdrew from writing and community in the 70s, and ultimately took his own life in 1984. There's also a ton of member poetry up, so please think to comment on tinuviel8994's work here, and leisaie here. On to the next hapless victim! ( Application ) |

Application
Hello, I found this community through an interest search for "beat poetry," one of my favorite genres that I've studied. I've been writing poems since as early as I can remember... it's gotten me through a lot of hard times (I had mental health problems in the past) and has been the foremost creative outlet for all my passions and inspiration. I was very intrigued by the description of this community: a harsh, intricate criticism of my work is exactly what I need in this stage of my journey as a poet. I tried to pick 3 relatively short, powerful poems that I hope you'll enjoy. ( Here they are ) Current Mood: curiousCurrent Music: Beethoven - Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93 |

Moderating again, back in the saddle, etc etc
Going away abroad to study, has left me lax on the moderating skills, but I'll try to remedy that a little, because all kinds of riff raffs are still trying to enter poetryslamming without posting 3 application poems. graceasaur, hautesakura, heinousrhyme, jastenreadsmuch, ridtigerfox, riderofrohan8, sinsofanovelist, sirenoftitan1, stargirl_007, trickelephant and zhai, YOU MUST ALL POST AN APPLICATION WITH 3 POEMS WITHIN A WEEK OR I'LL KICK YOU OUT OF THE COMMUNITY!! READ THE COMMUNITY INFORMATION PAGE!!I'm glad to see a few small things happening in here otherwise, I know some people aren't on LJ that much anymore, slacking of faceboob or whatever, but I think lots of people read still, but are too lazy to post. I for one would like to see some continuing activity in here, even if it's low grade, because now and again I'm reminded that most people actually do come back to PS and read what's in here. Having been the best poetry community on LJ still matters somehow, even if we might have outgrown ourselves, or think we have. |

Please check it out! offer feedback! some people look at it, they tell me, but they never criticize, and what's the use in that? Here's a few poems though! ( Read more... ) |
